Life as a Full-Time Reseller with Angela

Once upon a time (January 2019) in a Macy's in Atlanta, I met my wonderful friend Angela. I had been on Poshmark for years, but this was my first event to attend. We met and got along right away, this friendship was meant to be! She invited me to her upcoming Posh-N-Sip at her pool she was hosting in a few weeks! Fast forward to the Posh-N-Sip - I had a blast! We bonded over reselling, splashed in the pool, played guitar, and got to start a connection with "my people"! I will forever be grateful for her invite and our "bloomng" friendship, pun intended. 😉

Let's get to know Angela, from @bloomingbrands

What is your favorite aspect of the job? I am an artist at heart and love the creative side of reselling. From carefully selection colorful clothing for my listings to photography to wrapping my packages up with ribbons & hand written thank you notes. The more color the better. It makes me so happy. Also, the flexibility to make my own schedule and out the needs of my family first.

What advice would you give someone that loves reselling and wants to go full-time with it? My advice would be to do your thing in the process and stay open to the advice of others. I recommend paying attention to all the metrics that Poshmark lays out for you in the seller tools. I believe all the metrics are important and while you cannot focus on all of them at the same, you should not neglect any one for a long period of time. Community shares, following and sharing new sellers and inviting others to join the app are just a few worth mentioning that some resellers do not make a priority.

What does a day in the life of a reseller look like?

My routine the last few months has been to do the following 6/7 days a week -

- Offers to Likers

- Offers to Bundles

- Look up party types for the day and items & brands trending today to narrow my focus on what to prep for listing

- List 5-10 items, may include relisting if oldest items

- Follow new people

- Follow my followers

- Community shares for PFF’s or high volume sharers

- Follow the followers of several high profile Poshers

- Follow buyers who have left love notes and share their closets (3-5 items)

- Participate in super posher share game @gainfollowers

- Wrap, write thank you notes & ship sales

- Steam and inspect inventory (wash or clean or mend if necessary)

- Payout my Consignment clients monthly

- Manage supply inventory (boxes, tape, thank cards & stickers, envelopes)

- Post to IG daily about reselling

- Engage with others on IG

- Chat with other Poshers daily

- scan thru Poshmark Facebook Groups to get a quick glance of the latest topics, engage as appropriate

What are your Minimum number of listings? I try to list or relist items daily. My goal forever was to get to 500 active listings. Once I achieved that I moved on to 600 & so on. It is challenging because I have found the more active listings you have the faster you sell. I am currently just shy of 900 active listings today and have made it there once. I have space for double the inventory in my Posh Room so I will continue to grow and sell and tackle my money pile. Biggest and favorite flips?  My biggest flip was a pair of Chanel leather boots that sold for $500. My favorite find was a Burberry Quilted Jacket I paid $25 for and sold for $190.

What are you working on at the moment? I have been very focused at reducing my “money pile” and crafting my reselling journey on my Instagram account along with growing my followers.  Are there any upcoming virtual events you are looking forward to? I have been loving all the virtual Posh N Coffees. Popping on each weekend and meeting new Poshers around the country has been so inspiring.  What websites do you use as a reseller? Outside of Poshmark, I use google, Pinterest, Instagram, And SellHound the most. Do you have a favorite? Poshmark is my favorite. 😄

I believe reselling is really a journey and you learn and grow as you go. We go so focused on perfection we forgot even the first items we listed actually sold. Try not to overthink the process. There are tools and processes that are nice to have but are also not necessary to make money reselling. I encourage everyone to reach out and begin to make or strengthen connections to other resellers in your community. Reselling can be a very lonely job but can be so much more with a community surrounding you. I always learn a tip or trick of something to try in my closet and it inspires me to try new things when chatting with others. We as resellers have such a contagious passion for this business and it is never a dull conversation.
